4. Mental Health Training: Safeguarding

Attendees find it helpful for themselves and useful to the group to share personal experiences and they may find that some subjects trigger upsetting thoughts and memories.  Our support for attendees is paramount:

  • It’s one of the reasons why we limit group sizes and why we only deliver these courses when physically present with attendees (the other reason is to maximise the quality and effectiveness of the learning experience).
  • We emphasise and remind attendees that:
    • They can “opt out”; they don’t need to say or do anything which makes them feel uncomfortable or compromised.
    • They can “step out”; they can leave a session for a short while or until the instructor has been able to provide them with support during a break or after the session.
    • All contributions are respected.
    • Personal information is shared in confidence and remains within the sessions.
  • Whilst the subject matter is serious, our instructor will encourage everyone to enjoy the learning experience.
